More than half of Redeemer Downtown’s congregation is single, and we offer programs tailored to their specific needs. With everything from run clubs and Facebook groups to Eventbrite and Meetup, this city has almost limitless avenues for social connection. That’s why the purpose of our singles gatherings is bigger than just getting people together. The goal is spiritual formation.
There’s so much more to being single than dating. People are managing finances, work-life balance, travel, family, friendships, roommates, FOMO, ROMO, and more. Our classes cover a range of topics that address what it’s like to experience life as a single New Yorker. At Redeemer Downtown, we look at all angles of life from a Christian perspective and consider how our faith affects our attitudes and actions.
Everyone has a different outlook on their singleness. Some people treat it like a temporary holding pattern before “real life” begins, but others enjoy their autonomy. Some think of romance as something that happens spontaneously, while others actively pursue it. And it seems like almost everyone is tired of dating apps. Whatever your point of view, these gatherings provide space to come together and consider a distinctly Christian take on the issues that are relevant for single people today.

Introducing Common Ground: Learning Together as Singles Across the Redeemer Network of Churches
This is the first class for single people across the Redeemer network. Each Common Ground gathering will explore a specific facet of singleness through a Christian lens. On September 18, we're considering “A Theology of Singleness." What is God’s design for singleness, and how might we live in light of what the bible says? The evening will open with cocktails, followed by a lecture from Jeff White and Marla Jea.
